Marisa Gil Lapetra is a Health Economist, collaborating  with We-Empower in Vertical Health Management, building a robust network of international healthcare professionals focused on how to improve management and knowledge transfer in healthcare facilities to face critical situations such as the COVID crisis. 

Marisa has been an active contributor to different International Organisations, delivering services as a public health analyst and statistician (World Bank, OECD, IHF). Marisa has also collaborated with the private sector designing effective outreach strategies for data collection needs and business intelligence plans. Marisa is an associate to Health Investment and Financing (a NY-based corporation) providing services in economic analysis and policy recommendations to medium-cap companies within the health industry

Marisa’s professional experience has covered multi facets in global health projects, including key activities:

  • Promoting the use of an international directory of professional competencies for healthcare managers, ensuring standard competitiveness measures across healthcare facilities.
  • Enabling discussion among professionals from multiple horizons acknowledging the key role of the private sector in providing healthcare services
  • Conducting international encounters to examine the complex relation between the university and medical centers in nurturing innovation policies
  • Leading the EVABLAF (ablation by catheter of the atrial tissue in the treatment of atrial fibrillation) cost-analysis study for the French Ministry of Health as a PRME-STIC (Medical Research of Highly specialized and costly innovative techniques)

As an independent professional, Marisa has contributed to outstanding international initiatives supporting health standards, such as:

From 2000 to 2009 Marisa worked regularly for the OECD where she contributed to several major directorates’ research projects and publications. From 2004 to 2009 Marisa worked for the Health Division ensuring the quality and timeliness of the OECD Health Data collection and managing the Health Care Quality Indicator Project. In parallel, Marisa conducted statistical analysis for the well-known Health Data Studies “Reviews of Health System Series”, estimating and analyzing budget stances as well as assessing projections of health expenditure according to expected ageing evolution.

Mrs. Gil Lapetra started her professional career assisting the Chief Economist of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy to Brussels. She was in charge of the monthly economic analysis reporting and market studies. 

Mrs. Gil Lapetra holds a MSc degree in Macroeconomic and Quantitative Analysis from both Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Université de Paris X, Nanterre where she took a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies in Econometrics with Abraham Gilbert Frois et Pierre Llau. Mrs. Marisa Gil Lapetra was a member of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE, Washington DC) and the Institut des Relations Internationales Stratégiques (IRIS, Paris).

Mrs. Gil Lapetra is fluent in three languages: native Spanish, French and English and  is based in Paris.
