Dr. Mushtaq Memon, We-Empower Vice President – Livestock, a Board-Certified Specialist in Veterinary Reproduction and Prof Emeritus at Washington State University was an invited speaker at the Beirut International Veterinary Congress held May 5-8, 2023.
The Congress marks the first gathering of this type to be held in Lebanon. Organized by the Lebanese Veterinary Association (LVA) and supported by veterinary product and equipment companies, the event played a significant role in the area of veterinary medicine not only for Lebanon but also for the MENA region.
About 500 veterinarians and veterinary students from Lebanon and other countries attended the conference. The speakers from Europe, the United States and Middle East and North Africa delivered presentations in three streams – Large Animals, Small Animals and General Medicine/Avian stream.
Dr. Memon delivered presentations on the following topics: Integrative Veterinary Medicine – A new concept in veterinary practice, An Overview of Common Reproductive Disorders in Canines – Case-based studies, and Digitizing the Poultry Industry based upon the One Health concept. One Health is a concept which views Animal, Human and Environmental Health as being interrelated.
Dr. Memon was very impressed with the quality of the sessions and their value to promoting veterinary services in the region. He was also pleased to renew relationships with contacts from his Farmer-to-Farmer assignment in 2011-2012.
We-Empower is committed to assisting developing communities to achieve food security and food safety under the banner of One Health, W-Empower’s programs consider all three areas of health and wellbeing during the design process.
