Food Security/Training in Rural Badia Region of Jordan: USAID funded Farmer-to-Farmer program.

October 2012 – Amman, Jordan.

The training workshop was held with key Jordanian food security stakeholders including representatives from the Jordan Ministry of Agriculture, Jordan Alliance Against Hunger, Agricultural Foundation for Project Development, Jordan Economic and Social Council, Jordan Ministry of Health, SIT World Learning, NCRD Badia Research Program, Arab Women Organization, and the host organization, the NCRD Water and Food Research Program.

The workshop reviewed common definitions of food security and food insecurity, the importance of measuring food security, and discussed potential food security assessment tools that could be adopted in Jordan, specifically assessment tools based on proven USDA household food security assessment tool adapted to Jordanian culture and language.

In addition to the participants identified above, HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein attended the workshop and provided insights into the importance of food security in Jordan.
